Tahsis is a tiny town at the end ol a long fjord on the north coast of Vancouver Island. We had a great time exploring the harbour.

Nothing heralds the approach of summer like the first irises.

A walk in the spring woods is awash with various shades of rich new green.

May is greeted by the new fiddleheads of sword fern. Yummy fiddleheads!!

A snowy scene from the Tetrahedron. Ah memories of February.

The West Coast in storm season can be an incredible sight.

A stormy evening on Secret Beach in Gibsons. It is unusual to get such large waves in such sheltered waters.

Wednesday, April 19, 2006

Deer are a very common sight on the Coast. This one was a member of a small group of young deer on the prowl.

Monday, April 17, 2006

Another magnificent spring sight. Star magnolia and cherry blooms.

I suppose this one could be used as promotional material for the gardens. Spring blossoms are an amazing sight.

Thursday, March 30, 2006

Ah the philosopher heron.

Tuesday was a rainy day, but I still managed to snag this cormorant picture from one of the blinds at Reifel.

Wednesday, March 29, 2006

A shot from mear Reifel Bird Sanctuary. This heron posed oatiently until I had to change my memory card, then he took off. I barely got this shot.

Vancouver in the height of cherry blossom time. I love the juxtaposition of the rich pink blossoms and the cold grey concrete.

Friday, March 24, 2006

Yet one more blossom image. This one is from a brooding, cloudy day at Stanley Park.

Cherry blossoms, what could be more spring like in BC. Sure hope the sun comes back though.

Monday, March 20, 2006

Another shot of Gibsons Harbour and the North Shore Mountains. This one was taken this (chilly) morning, before dawn.

Saturday, March 11, 2006

Waves crashing on rocks. You'd think this was from the open Pacific shore, not the relativelsy sheltered Straits of Georgia.

Spring comes to Gibsons. And to think that it was snowing like mad in the mornimg!

Fading evening light gives an otherwordly glow to the Nooksack River in Washington State.

Tuesday, February 28, 2006

Another sea stack from the West Coast Trail.

I was looking through my pictures of the West Coast Trail and came across this jem. It captures so much of the trail. The virgin rainforest, ocean, beach, mist and comparatively tiny hikers

Thursday, February 23, 2006

Waves crashing on the beach at sunset. What can be more nautical than that.

Ah the first flowers of spring. Well its not yet spring yet but they are still punching up through the soil like hungry children.

Wednesday, February 22, 2006

A young alpine tree in the beautiful Tetrahedron Wilderness. How these saplings manage to survive the heavy snow is simply amazing.

Sunday, February 19, 2006

The remnants of a pier at Roberts Creek under a peach and teal sunset. Again, the warm colors of the sky don't show the true cold of the day!

Thursday, February 16, 2006

The calm pinks and mauves of this mountain scene are in contrast to the icy wind that shook my tripod and made it difficult to achieve a steady shot.

Wednesday, February 15, 2006

The last rays of sunset paint the North Shore mountains in delicate shades of purple and rose.

Sunday, February 12, 2006

This one is from today's trip to Smuggler's Cove near Halfmoon Bay. THe arbutus trees, cliffs and sea water make for an arresting image.

Friday, February 10, 2006

There goes the ferry over to the big city. Too bad Lorien is on it!!!

Monday, February 06, 2006

A sunrise picture from last summer. THe sunny weather is finally here. Now if only I could drag myself down to the water for a sunrise everything would be great.

Sunday, January 29, 2006

Pink clouds hover over Gibsons' harbour in the early morning.

Friday, January 27, 2006

Another early morning picture of Gibsons harbour. This one is from a slightly diferent angle.

Wednesday, January 25, 2006

Gibsons in the morning. SOmetimes the reflected light of clouds is all that is needed for a beautiful sunrise.

Morning at Molly's. Sure its a cliche but the purple clouds against the yellow building really drew my eye.

Monday, January 23, 2006

Sunrise over Kootenay Lake. This image was taken on a rare sunny morning in Kaslo.

Sunday, January 15, 2006

The last rays of the setting sun catch on the knife edged peak of Kootenay Joe.

Friday, January 13, 2006

Golden morning light in Gibsons Harbour. We need more sun over here!!!

Tuesday, January 10, 2006

The first rays of sun on the coast for over 3 weeks. They don't call it the raincoast for nothing.

Monday, January 09, 2006

This bridge seems to burst with color against the almost monochrome background of a snowy Kootenay scene.
